INSPIRE Your PUBLISHING Journey
FRIENDLY, INFORMAL WORKSHOPS
One, two or three hour workshops or whole day events designed to inform, inspire and give support to learn more about writing and publishing all types of books. Ideal for libraries, schools, community groups and book festivals.
I’ve worked with libraries and schools across Teesside and have delivered sessions including full day writer workshops at the Crossing the Tees Book Festival, the WRITE Festival and Sci-Fi Scarborough.
ROUTES TO PUBLISHING
One of my most popular workshops, in this session we cover how to get your book ready, how to pitch to agents if you want a traditional publishing deal, how to self-publish and own your work, and discuss the pros and cons of each possible route.
HOW TO CREATE STANDOUT STORIES
Covering the basics of what makes a good story, how to craft memorable characters and how to structure your story, this session is suitable for writers working on short stories, novellas and full length novels of all genres.
WRITING AND PUBLISHING YOUR MEMOIRS
I love this session where we cover the reasons why people write their memoirs and true life stories, how to research and structure your book, the legal aspects of defamation and privacy, and then ways to publish your book.
HOW TO DISTRIBUTE AND PROMOTE YOUR BOOK
This is a very practical session covering ways to distribute your book once it’s published, in eBook, paperback, hardback and audiobook formats, online and in shops, and then how to market and promote your book, including social media, blogging and pay per click advertising.
