Kheris Burning (Thieves’ Guild Origins: LC Book One)

£9.99

No one in the galaxy gives a damn about Kheris, a war-torn mining colony in the back of beyond.
Thirteen-year-old Luka is used to running from trouble, living rough with a gang of street kids, stealing from the Imperial troops and selling scavenged tech and intel to the Wintran-backed resistance fighters to survive.
But when a mysterious ship crashes in the desert, his life is turned upside down overnight. Suddenly Kheris is on everyone’s radar and he finds himself caught between the two warring factions, with the lives of those closest to him threatened. He’s desperate to find a way out, but will the cost be too high?

“I honestly couldn’t put this book down. A fantastic 1st person novel of LC and his harsh struggle against all odds before joining the Thieves’ Guild. Clearly the author loves this character and I can see why. I eagerly await book 2 on LC.”

“Initially I was unsure about an origins story for my favourite character from the Thieves’ Guild series. I don’t know why I even had a shred of doubt – this is FANTASTIC! I couldn’t put this down and I read the whole story over two nights. It has the same fast-paced style that I love about the other Thieves’ Guild books and even though I knew where it was ultimately going to end up, it twists and turns all the way through, making me doubt whether in fact it would end in that place. I don’t want to give away any spoilers, so I’m keeping this review rather generic. In essence it’s back story that explains so much about LC – how he developed his attitude, why he learned to box up and compartmentalise his emotions and even where his name comes from! Whilst doing this it still maintains some of those underlying mysteries – like where is LC really from? What was that ship that landed in the desert? I particularly loved that even at the age of 13 Luka has an influence of the ladies, both young and old! Having just re-read all of the Thieves’ Guild books in order to get my teeth into Wilful Defiance, which we got signed at a local Sci-Fi Convention, I am now fully immersed in this universe all over again and reminded of what an absolutely fantastic series it is. I am thrilled to see there are two more books in the pipeline and I hope that not only will we see CGH at another Sci-Fi Convention, but that there are some other origins books in the pipeline.”

“A fantastic, rollercoaster of a ride. I didn’t want to put this book down. The fast paced narrative sweeps you along with the action; so much so that you feel LC’s every bump and bruise on the way to the end.”

“I accidentally found CG Hatton on Amazon by reading her first book for free. Since then I’ve been hooked. Her books always pull you in. Her characters are wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed all of her books!!”
